``The Sword of the Shadows,'' Chairman Kim exclaimed as he held up the ancient katana to the light. ``It is finally mine!''
``Yes, Your Divinity,'' the Unterlord intoned, ``we are pleased to have served You to obtain this valuable artefact.''
``You have done well, Unterlord,'' Chairman Kim said as he held the sword firmly in his hands. ``But anyone can bring out an old sword and claim it to be the fabled Sword of the Shadows. I'm afraid you may have to perform the ultimate sacrifice.''
The Unterlord's face was replaced by a look of sheer horror. He protested vehemently but as politely as he could at the Chairman's suggestion, but the latter merely gave him a sardonic grin before slashing the ancient blade through the head of the Unterlord. The blade went through the skull like a hot knife through butter, spilling out cerebral fluids and brain matter. Yet it went on without resistance, slicing through the entire frontal lobe till the blade finally left the head proper through the lower jaw. By then, the Unterlord's head had been cleaved partially into two, his eyes registering a look of pure horror and unimaginable pain as his now-forked tongue flailed about and bled continuously.
Chairman Kim waved his hand, and a pair of guards came forth and dragged the maimed Unterlord away. The Chairman examined the katana---there were no blood stains on it, the blade was still reflecting light as though it were brand new, and the edge was as keen as ever.
That demonstration only proved halfway that the katana was what it was claimed.
Holding the sword forwards once again, Chairman Kim started to utter a string of unintelligible syllables. The blade started to glow crimson before settling on a deep violet colour. The radiation was cutting but seemed to have no effect on the Chairman himself.
He grinned heartily in the deep violet glow.
``Yes! This is indeed the Sword of the Shadows!''
